First off, I received my DV6500T not more than one month ago. Starting last night, the laptop didn't boot, so I contacted HP Techs and they told me do a power drain. Why this occured, I don't know? Supposedly, if you leave your laptop on for too long, static builds up. Now, the same thing happened again and I had to do a second power drain in less than a day.
Next, even more serious is either the keyboard is messed up or something like that. The laptop, when typing, would randomly space everything. I could barely type a sentence because it would go SPACE crazy and it was nearly impossible to even enter a password to log into Windows. When opening browser windows, it constantly scroll down to the bottom of the page and I couldn't read most of the stuff I was trying to look up.
Lastly, there is a high pitch sound coming from the AC Adapter when plug into the laptop, which is driving me nuts. But not coming from the laptop, which many people have experienced.
Does anyone know what's going on or should I return my laptop for a new one/refund?

makes me worried, because I plan to have my dv2500t to run 24x7 (will be used as Media Center) I am curious if this common issue with HP.
-
Yeah, I left my laptop on overnight, but always turned it off during the daytime for a few hours to avoid overheating. But such things shouldn't cause the laptop to not boot up.
-
I would return it. Sounds like a lemon.
-
What is their return policy? Their HP Techs are as dumb as rocks - I practically had to explain everything to them and how their "solutions" were useless and would not work.
-
Wow! Has Hp gone sour? This question keeps coming back! and YES it is sour!
-
Unfortunately, quality has been going down. At the moment, I was instructed to reinstall my keyboard drivers and it seem to be okay. Strangely, the problem comes and goes, so it's a matter of time before the same thing occurs.
Their online tech support completely sucks and I still can't get a straight answer on their return policy. If I can return this, I'm probably going with a MacBook Pro..lol -
I am about to click "BUY" on dv6500t - makes me worried, but I'm gonna hope this is not true...
-
Well, it is TRUE. I'm telling you what is happening with my DV6500T..lol

Are you sure the scrolling of the screen is not your hand on the touchpad?
That's why they have the little button at the top of the pad, to turn it off.
When you post a message, put the cursor in the reply box, then turn off the touch pad and it won't mess up. Then when you're done, turn it back on. It's easy to do this by moving your index finger or thumb on the button and pressing it. You can also adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad and turn off the double click option. If you tap the touch pad twice, it makes a double click, I turned that off. -
I have had my dv6000t for over 3 months with no problems. -
-
Honestly...did you not think I considered the touchpad to be the source of the problem FIRST? And I know there is a button above the touchpad which deactivates it...I use a mouse with my laptop the majority of the time.
Well, a Case Manager is suppose to call me in the afternoon and from there I will try to get my laptop returned for a full refund. -

I've had my dv9500t running 24/7 from the day I bought it (only about a week ago
) and no problems to report. Doesn't get hot, no strange noises, no power problems, no 'static'
problems. Works great, I'm happy. Sounds like maybe you got a lemon.
-
Well, every once in a while, there is an issue like this, but if I am not mistaken this is the first case with dv6500t, so far mine is working with no problems, just for the test I had it working for a 22h without failure.

feedback helps -
HP has a 21 day return policy. If you do not get your issue resolved, simply call them and let them know you want to return it. You dont even need to give a reason. Dont let them talk you out of it because on the 22nd day, you will be SOL.
-
One of the HP Tech said only 15 Days...Well, I'm on my 21st day...I received it on June 15 I believe...They should still grant it because I contacted them on the 20th day, true?
-
I returned 2 x dv6000 and 1 x dv2000 (all made high pitch sound, dv2000 randomly would shut down and all would randomly get black screen for 1-2sec. like no power or something).
Desiding on Dell 1330 or Sony SZ,
I'd rather pay little more and have little more pease. -
Will see it myself and let you guys know. -
I called the HP Tech guys up, the first one hung up on me when I refused to have a replacement and wanted a full refund. His name was Jerry. The second HP Representative, Mark, was easy going and asked whether I wanted a replacement or refund and I got all the necessary Return Number and all. I dropping off my laptop to FedEx and hopefully everything goes alright from there. Now, it's time for some Macbook Pro shopping.
