So, I restarted my DV6500T yesterday night and noticed it got stuck at the HP logo when rebooting. It didn't change or move at all and I was unable to boot into Windows. The only way to shut off the laptop was to actually pull the battery out as holding the power button couldn't even shut it down. I was unable to enter BIOS or any other options like System Recovery and what not.

Second option, I removed the battery and ran on the AC Adapter only. This time, it also froze at the HP logo, but I was able to enter BIOS. BIOS kept flashing between English and Chinese and the numbers on like "System Time" when highlighted, kept changing rapidly. When I scrolled over the "Security" tab and every one following that, the laptop would make a loud, repetitious beeping sound, which was downright ANNOYING. Luckily I was able to actually shut off the laptop using the power button this time.

I am so disappointed at this laptop right now. It's been less than a month and already such incidents are occurring, not that they even should be occurring in the first place. Does anyone have any idea of what is happening or how I can fix this? Thanks in advance.

First off I think your mobo is toast, but try this:

    1. remove the battery
    2. remove the AC adapter
    3. hold down the power button for about 8 seconds.

I just know that it sometimes fixes issues like this.

any know exactly what it does???

Thanks Yuio, that was actually what the problem was. I needed to power drain my laptop. According to an HP Tech, she said if the laptop is on for an extensive amount of time, static will build up. The purpose of a power drain is to rid this static electricity. How? I don't know..lol

So, that's what turned out to be problem. I am very happy it wasn't a major issue concerning the hardware.

wow, the trick amazes me every time. I used it on my Ferrari when the screen did not work, and it worked for that as well!!!

    Have a good day!
