just wanted to report that i've been surfing the web and typing a few things for about 3 hours and i've got 25% of my battery left with my dv6500t and 6-cell high capacity battery, using "HP Recommended" setting. that ain't too bad, imo. obviously better than what i was getting with my dv6000t. i think the upgraded integrated graphics card suites me better than compromising battery life for a sub-par dedicated card.
anyway, i know some shoppers out there are interested in battery life. i know i certainly was before i started searching for a new laptop last year when i eventually bought a dv6000t.

Same here. I just plugged in after about 3 hours of wireless internet browsing and typing on battery, and I still had a 25% charge. This is also with the high capacity 6-cell.
A question though - does your computer give an estimated time left reading for battery? Mine doesn't and I can't figure out why. -
no, and neither do the dv6000t's. none of the newer pavillion notebooks have the estimated TIME feature, at least to my knowledge. it's something that has been discussed in many, many threads. maybe HP just figured it wasn't reliable enough since there are a variety of functions that could be performed on an "entertainment notebook" that would cause the time estimation to fluctuate too much. a percentage is way more reliable (well....exactly precise) and you'll eventually get used to it and be adding up the time in your head without even knowing it. you've got an estimation vs. exactness

do you use the time from computer clock or from the battrery clock ?
also can you hear any noise from CPU ?
