Hey guys, I got my dv6500t with an 8400GS card to output to my 1080p HDTV but the problem is that the image that displays on the TV is only 90% of the full image as shown on my laptop.

    This is via HDMI.

I'd like the images on both laptop and HDTV to match perfectly and I've tried every combination of resolution between the TV and the laptop yet I always get the same result: a fully displayed desktop on my laptop and a cropped desktop on my HDTV.

Anybody know what the problem could be?

Isn't it weird? It connects every time but no matter what, the output on the TV is cropped on the top, bottom, left and right. It's such a copout!

I've updated to the very latest drivers from laptopvideo2go, tried both the nVidia control panel and the Windows display panel, and no matter how many tweaks I do, it always ONLY displays 90% of the image on the TV!

I've looked all over the net for the answer to this question and all I find are discussions about how to connect in the first place but I've already jumped that hurdle.

I think it has somthing to do with the TV. I was using an ATI radeon 3200 desktop card. I tried restarting the desktop and the tv some times it worked nicely other times it was terrible so i just stuck to VGA cable and no sound.

I fixed it! The problem I described is called "overscan" and its a problem with the handshake between Nvidia cards and most HDTV's that can be fixed by installing a patch to enable overscan support on your card, which you can find here.

You just download the file, unzip it, run the "enable" exe file as an administrator, and reboot. The next time you connect an HDMI cable to your TV, the card will play nice with the TV and display as it should.
