Hi..I just did a clean xp install on my dv6500t and have installed all the drivers using the forums here. The only problem I have is that the driver that Nvidia supplies on its site for the 8400m gs (158.22) doesn't seem to install on the 6500t. It gives the error message "Nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware". Anybody had this problem? Thanks!

You can't use drivers directly from Nvidia on laptops. You either have to use drivers provided by HP, or get a hacked INF file from a place like laptopvideo2go.

Yep, I had the same problem. I guess I'll use those drivers from laptopvideo2go.

Is 165.01 the most current for Windows Vista 32-bit?

user "robvia" has written an excellent guide here:

    http://www.nogodforme.com/HPDV6500T.htm

mind you, i didn't install the HP wireless assistant and the synaptics touchpad software, no use for it as everything works fine.

the only problem i'm still stuck with right now is that in xp, the verisoft access manager for the fingerprint reader doesn't give the option of "lock workstation". i read the manual and it said there should be an option. i can't remember if it was there when i was using vista. does anyone have that option in vista?

Hey Loay, thanks, but before I re-install XP. Could you tell me if it lags when watching QuickTime Movie Trailers @ 720p or 1080p? Especially 1080p. Does it skip or slow down or does it run smoothly? Thanks!
