Bought a DV6647eo after xmas, swapped as DOA less than 48 hours later. Had a busted DVD drive.

Now this new unit is acting up. About a third of boots end up with blank screen, rest of the time it works perfectly. Event manager shows some HDD errors so it should be quite obvious what is going on.

I need my laptop for studies and it must be 100% reliable which HP certainly is not. Anyone know what the HP refund policy is?

I don't know much about their official policy but they are a large company and you paid for their product so if they don't give you a full refund because they provided a malfunctioning product you can report them to the better business bureau (BBB). That will certainly get their attention and will ensure that you get your money back. And I had an HP desktop that gave me nothing but trouble since the day I got it and thus I will never buy from them again.

Isn't that US or UK thing? I live in finland. :D We do have a similar bureau but it takes about a year to get any kind of response.

You guys need to stop advocating reporting everything to the BBB.

HP allows returns usually between 14 and 30 days depending on the country. You can check the policy for your country on www.hp.com/support. Otherwise, it will have to be serviced under warranty.
