    Cooler question

    Hello all,

I have been unsuccessful in locating a laptop cooler for my DV6700 CTO Laptop. I have the larger 12-Cell Battery which sticks out the bottom and lifts the back end of the system up. Has anyone found a good cooler for the configuration I have?

Any suggestions and help would be appreciated.

    Fan question

    Hello All,

I have a DV6700 CTO laptop running Bios Version F.58A and my system fan does not constantly run. I can hear it cycle speeds depending on system load. I thought HP released a Bios version that made the fan run 100% of the time. Is this true? Do I need a special Bios version which I cannot find on the support site to make the fan run 100% of the time?

The reason why I ask is at times I find the system fan not working and have to use compressed air to restart the fan. This normally happens after several hours the system has been on. I have learned the left side of the system gets warm to the touch when the system fan has stopped functioning. I just think using compressed air on the system fan multiple times during a week is a little ridiculous. So I was hoping there was a software/Firmware fix which would make it run all the time. As I think the issue is the system gets confused as to run the fan or not.

Thank you for any help you may provide.

When you are using your notebook with AC power (which happens to be most of the time when you are using it with a cooler) you are far better off taking the battery out. That way you notebook will work better with the cooler and not wearing down your battery at the same time.

Maybe some dust is clotting it up? I am going to merge your other thread with this one.
