I've been searching around in here for an answer to this, but I can't find it.

Just got my DV6T Select Edition last week. The only thing I did was immediately put in my SSD and re-image the system.

When I close the lid, the system goes to standby (to state the obvious). However, when opening the lid and waking the system up, I am given a "black screen" that can only be recovered by hard resetting the system. I also noticed that the wi-fi light stays orange, almost like the system is freezing when trying to come out of standby. Oddly enough, too, when it tries to restart Windows, it freezes at the Win7 logo after POST. Another hard reset and the issue is gone.

I thought this was a video driver issue, so I updated the AMD drivers to the reference 11.12. I still am experiencing the issue.

I also disabled dynamic video switching in my BIOS and put it to fixed mode.

    My specs:
    dvt6 se
    core i5 2430
    1920x1080 hd screen
    8gb ram
Radeon 2GB 7690M XT (or 6770, whatever you want to call it)

...and oddly enough, the wireless is Realtek, which goes against what is available in the driver forum.

I'd hate to return this system as it packs a lot of "bang for the buck", but this issue is irritating and happens more often than I like.

I have the same issue where when i close the lid then reopen all i have is a black screen. Or sometimes I close the lid and the computer stays on then im greeted with a nice BSOD. I sent my laptop in to hp few days ago and it's on its way back already so I'll try and keep you posted.

I wound up tuning the power system to not go to Standby/Sleep mode when closing the lid until I can figure out what I do with this.

Honestly, I can't seem to fix this issue. I don't feel like dealing with Tech Support, so I'm returning it.

that's what i would do, it seems like it happens to you very often and if you're within the return period then save yourself the trouble. unfortunately I've had this laptop for 3 months now so I'm stuck with sending it to hp

I never use it. I have it set to do nothing if i am closing the lid and put it to sleep manually. Try it. (Also, if you try to turn the computer back on while its going to sleep it does something that sounds pretty much like what is happening to you.)
