Hi all I'm new here and this is my first thread!
I was wondering for those of you that have put an SSD in your DV6T and kept your HDD as well,
what SATA caddy did you use?
and
What did you do with your bluray drive? Are there any cd/dvd drive enclosures out there that work perfectly with the bluray drive that comes with the DV6T?
The bluray drive on these has a bit of a unique shape because the front cover of the drive curves under the laptop somewhat so I'm concerned about things fitting properly.
Thanks!

I recently replaced my DVD drive (mine didn't come with bluray) with my old Hard Drive and put my SSD where my old Hard Drive was. It's pretty easy. This is the caddy you need. You also need a small screwdriver (phillips (+), maybe 2.5mm in diameter).
1. Pop the battery out.
2. Pop up the back cover off using the same switch you used for the battery, but move it the opposite way.
3. Pull off the cover.
4. Unscrew the hard drive cover. It has a rectangular piece of grey foam on it. Remove the cover, then remove the SATA cable from the Hard drive. Set it aside.
5. Attach the SSD to the SATA cable, put it inside the cover, and put the cover back in place. Screw it in.
6. Attach the HDD to the SATA ports in the 2nd caddy. Tape down the drive as it will flop around if you don't.
7. Unscrew the optical drive. There's only one screw, located near the main hard drive bay.
8. Slide out the optical drive.
9. Remove the faceplate and install it on the caddy
10. Put the caddy's cover on, then screw it in.
11. Slide it into the optical drive slot, and put the one screw back in.
12. Done!
There aren't any enclosures I know of for the drives, but I haven't really looked. Mine's just sitting inside the box the caddy came in, in case I need it. -
Ill be doing all of this soon then I've just been waiting to know about the optical bay cover, which you took care of! -
Here is another, much cheaper option: (complete with video)
How To Replace the Optical Drive (DVD) for an Hard Drive on a HP Pavilion dv6 - YouTube
It'll cost around $15 shipped, I am not sure about the ability to swap the bezel, but it is much cheaper. -
any other caddy available that fits flush to the dv6s?
-
Nope, there aren't any, you have to remove the bezel from the optical drive and fit it to a compatible caddy, the one scy1192 mentioned should work, but it is also $45.

all 12.7mm caddies should work. hardest part is to take the plastic bezel from the optical drive. if you can manage to do that without breaking it, you are set.
