    Hello,

I just hooked up my new Pavilion DV6T-6100 Quad Edition to a 22" LED display (max 1920x1200) via HDMI. At first everything was cut off so I have to use the "Customize Aspect Ratio" scaling option in the Intel Graphics Control Panel and go to 60 for horizontal and vertical. But, no matter whether I use the scaling or not the picture is horrible. The colors are off, everything is fuzzy, and everything isn't as small as it should be when set to 1920x1080.

To make sure it wasn't the TV or HDMI cable I hooked up my other laptop and it was all perfect. So it must be something with the DV6T. I have tried every possible option in the Intel Graphics Control Center, even creating a custom resolution to 1920x1080 but it makes no change. Can anyone help?

Go into fixed mode and try it with the 6770m.

It is in fixed mode and I have tried it with both. But no matter which one I try it with the resolution and scaling are all controlled by the Intel Graphics.

I also found out that everything is looking properly when at 1280x1024 but any other resolution looks horrible. It's as if its outputting the wrong resolution to the TV and then blowing it up to fit, therefore making it look horrible.

I have applied all of the updates from the HP site. I was on the phone with HP support for an hour and a half and we tried all of that. I still think the solution is in the Intel Graphics Control Center or has something to do with the resolution.

I just finished talking to HP over live chat and they told me that the 1920x1080 resolution and above is not supported for external displays by the laptop's graphics card. He did tell me, however, that they will be releasing an update (either from Intel or HP) in the future to fix this problem. Not sure if I believe that or not, but seeing as how everything works for me at resolutions below 1920x1080 I guess this must be correct.

W t f, my old 8600m GT can output higher then that. Why did they lock it down especially when going external? This worries me as I have a 24" 1920 x 1200 resolution external monitor that I hook my laptop up to. They better fix it soon and hopefully before I get my laptop. This is just unacceptable as people use this laptop as a true desktop replacement.

So is OP's problem isolated? Can I expect to hook the dv6t up via hdmi to my 1920 x 1200 res monitor without any problems?

The Radeon HD 6770M does not control the resolutions for the DV6T, the intregrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 controls all of that whether you have the graphics set to the Radeon or not. So I guess HP means that the Intel HD Graphics 3000 is not currently supporting the 1920x1080+ to an external display.

So, gaming on an external monitor is a no go? Since the 6770M isn't used..

I'm not having any issues at 1080p with my 27in external monitor. Steam games are fine, Rift is fine, quake live is fine. /confused

I'd say gaming is just fine. The bigger the screen the better it will look even without full support. The drawback will be that the text will not be as clear as it should be. But, like I said, if your screen is big enough you probably won't even notice it.

Give us the make an model of that display, that might help a lot.

I'm not having any problem playing games windowed or fullscreen via HDMI or DB15 (VGA) to several external displays which have native resolutions of 1920x1080.

We're talking about screen resolutions of monitors with 1920 x 1200 (like the Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP).

Hey Guys, I had an old Dell E248WFP (1900 x 1200) hooked up to my DV6T 6100 via HDMI to DVI cable and it was working fine. This was like over a month ago so it I had old drivers...mabe the HDMI to DVI is what made it fine? not sure.

did you try to set up a custom resolution while the external monitor was attached (you're right, it would be done using the Intel HD control panel)?

Unfortunately, the thing died on me while gaming so I returned it for a refund and have bought a PowerPro R 11:36 from PowerNotebooks.com instead. But, IF HP was telling the truth about them working on a fix for it, it shouldn't be too much longer.
