Hey, I would really like to know (and hopefully others do as well) what everyone thinks of the new FHD screen on the DV6T-6xxx. The screen is an AUO B156HW01 v.3, 220 nits, 60% gamut, matte. I personally was disappointed when I hear about all 3 of these aspects, particularly with 220 nits and the matte. Please post your impressions here and tell me I'm worrying about nothing.

you prefer glossy screen? are you crazy? glossy means not possible to work when there is light in room cause glossy screens are like mirrors.

the matte FHD screen looks really good. im not a graphic artist or anything, but it is beautiful for my needs. Also, i used to have an Envy14 w/ Radiance display, and really wasn't that impressed with it... The glossy screen was way too reflective, and the brightness (400? nits) really never made up for it IMO. I like the DV6t FHD display more, as the matte display really makes all the difference.

In order of things that make a *notebook* display look better (to me)...
    1. Resolution
    2. Matte coating
    3. Color Gamut
    4. Contrast
    5. Brightness

If i ever wanted to do do some photo-editing with accurate color reproduction, id wouldn't rely on a laptop monitor.

It is much better than I thought. There is simply no comparison with the previous HD+. or whatever they call it. The blu-ray discs look absolutely stunning on it.

It also, generally speaking, produces more vibrant colors, better brightness and overall better quality. I almost never use my laptop in direct light or outdoors so I prefer glossy as well

the HD screen is the best I've seen on a laptop. Sadly, I sent my unit back due to graphics issues, but the screen is great--lots of latitude with the vertical viewing angles. Blu ray discs look better than on my external monitors.

    These pictures are horrible...

The one with glossy is clearly in a spot with a lot more lights than matte.
Turn on the monitor brightness will also reduce the problem as how the physics work.

Generally speak from my MBP experience, both of them can't do anything under strong light, and Matte have color washout effect, which isn't as good as glossy. The only advantage of Matte is only if you are in a room with medium light and find little reflection to be annoying, otherwise Glossy is far more superior in many other way.

Could someone post a picture of their FHD screen so we can get an idea of what it looks like?

Here's a link to a post that was in the Owners Lounge. I believe this person has the 1080P display.

Ummm actually, take a look at the picture again. The two laptops are almost in the identical location and orientation on the counter. The lighting is only slightly different. It still shows the point that matte screens don't give off reflections.

I'm extremely happy with my dv6 1080p screen. It gets bright enough to give me a headache, color is as good if not better than my 27" Samsung SyncMaster P2770 (not an amazing monitor, but decent enough). Also dropping the resolution down for gaming is pretty much a non-issue. It still looks great at 1344x728.

There is a huge difference in the lighting. Look on the wall behind the laptop.
