    Hi all!
I put my laptop to sleep last night and all was well. I wake up and try to turn it back on and I notice that the power light isn't flashing. Thought I had accidentally unplugged it, but it was still plugged in properly. Went to a friends and tried using their battery + charger and still nothing. An oddity though was when I tried to plug their charger in after it was plugged into their laptop, it would go from able to charge their laptop to unable to charge mine to unable to charge theirs. The only thing I had done to the laptop was give it a change of thermal paste since I was getting temperatures into the 100Cs about a week ago. Nothing seemed erratic or out of place until now.

    Basically,
    1. Can't power on
    2. Charger gives no charge light
    3. Changed battery + different charger, still won't turn on
    4. Charger can still charge perfectly on friends laptop, but plug it into mine and it won't charge. Try to plug it back into friends and it won't charge at all until you unplug it from the wall.

My guess is it's a motherboard fault. Being a 7000 series it's my guess that it's still under warranty. If so I would take it back straight away! :)

Or, maybe a shorted-out DC jack. Nonetheless go sort it out with HP Warranty, and hope they don't notice that you opened the laptop up :))
