Hey Guys,
Is anyone else's left palm rest getting really hot during gaming? It's slightly warm during normal web browsing but when I play games..it gets uncomfortably warm..enough to cause my left hand to sweat. Maybe I'm just being picky...but someone said that the hard drive is under there, perhaps I have a defective hard drive. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Actually the chipset and part of the hard drive is under the left palm rest. Since the chipset controls the turbo-boost and hyper-threading(I could be wrong, but it's been a while since I had a CPU with HT ), it is naturally going to be warm/hot. Anyway, I drilled a couple of holes and did a repaste to help cool it. I no longer gets hot, now it's just lukewarm after hours of gaming. Of course your results may vary though.

Hmmm ... Try using GPU-Z to check your video card temps. My temps are usually in the high 70s while I game. If yours are much higher, then there may be something wrong.

when I gamed on my first DV6, I turned on the Antec cooler pad I keep the laptop on. that kept the chassis reasonably cool.
