Sorry to ask this question...I know they maybe different in many things and uses...but I was wondering, since the Llano it's very inferior to the 2630QM intel, how would performance be affected in:

    - Watching HD movies
    - Gaming
    - Designing/Editing
    - Normal use (surfing, word, etc)

If you're on a budget go llano. If you can afford over $800 then go dv6t.

HD movies, Intel integrated can do that.
Designing/editing? If you need OpenGL and it's intensive then you should go llano because dv6t has switchable graphics problem that uses the HD 3000 in programs.
normal use? integrated can handle that. processor difference means little.

gaming? dv6t will be significantly better

That is just not true. Worst-case scenario, the dv6z is around 15% worse. Best-case scenario the dv6z wins, how much depends on how much the driver support improves and whether someone figures out how to overclock both GPU's. They will likely be at least equal.

The CPU does play a factor in gaming, and the 6z's isn't good.

Is it possible to manually selected the discrete 6750m only? Or is it either integrated or dual graphics?

edit: The cpu should suit most games fine with the exception of some RTS's. Worst case scenario you're playing supcom 2 with like 750 units but that rarely happens.

dv6z isn't going to win, abbadon. even if the drivers miraculously become good enough to make the 6750m as good as the 6770m (which does not appear close to happening) like hockeymass said the CPU gives a solid edge to the dv6t.

this is all assuming that the absolutely horrendous results from notebookreview change with driver updates. given amd's history with driver updates (opengl problem needs to be fixed) that's a tough one to sell

you can turn off crossfire afaik. so you can use 6750m only.

The CPU only has a noticeable impact in a small minority of games and the difference decreases with higher settings.

Intel Sandy Bridge Processors Gaming Performance: Part II - Notebookcheck.net Reviews

Even if ACF doesn't improve to the level of normal Crossfire, the dv6t is not going to be "significantly better". It would hardly be "miraculous" for the 6755g2 to reach the 6770m. For that to happen they only need to combine with 75% efficiency or, in other words, the IGP only needs to be able to add 30% of its performance to the 6750m.

we've already argued this to its death in other threads.

llano is based on athlon II which is a whole lot worse than any sandy bridge, so that link isn't really relevant because it compares sandy bridge models only.

CPU is more important than you want to believe - it can make a difference of 10-20 fps, which can be a lot. in games like COD4 I would not be surprised to see it make an even bigger difference.

but like we already discussed you're free to have your opinions and I'll have mine. currently, the gaming performance difference between the two, according to the benchmarks available, is not just significant, it's enormous.

The difference between the i7-2720qm and i3-2310m is pretty much the same as the difference between the A8-3530mx and i7-2630qm in single core performance. In anything that uses multiple cores, which most games today now do, the difference is going to be less.

It can make a 10-20 FPS difference, or even more, on low settings. But you are not going to notice the difference between 90FPS and 150FPS. On higher settings the difference is going to be less

The benchmarks for the 6755g2 on Notebookcheck are clearly out of whack for some reason. For every game they tested the numbers are much closer to the 5650m, where the IGP would perform, than the 6750m. Even for BC2, which had an increase in performance for Anandtech. Anandtech's numbers are just as good, and their unit came equipped with the 6630m

Yeah, that Anandtech review looks decent, about 30fps with BC2 1600x900 at medium detail. Even at 1366x768 DX10 @ Low it manages a solid 60fps.
