    Hi Guys:

I've narrowed my search for a laptop. Decided to go with something a bit larger than the 13/14 inch notebook. I'm guessing that performance of the DV6ZSE with the Phenom N930 will be on par with the DV6TSE with the Core i5 520M. I will only be running office application, web surfing, multi media and very light gaming (hell I still run DOS games).

Does anyone know which of these two notebook has the superior battery life? Will any of these notebooks provide 4 hours at 50% back lightig, wifi while doing office apps?

    Thanks,
    C.

From the research I have done while comparing the DV6Z and the DV6T, I've found that the i5 scored almost equal on benchmarks with the N930 and provided better battery life. Reviews seem to show maybe a 30-45min increase in battery life with the i5 so it probably isn't too notable of a difference. You should have no problem at all doing all of the activities you mentioned above so both processors would easily be able to satisfy your computing needs.

For those who don't require a touchscreen, if built with a processor short of the i7 you're probably better off with the z-meister.

Just curious but where have you seen these reviews? I have been looking for battery life numbers with the i5 for a while and can't seem to find them except for one poster in the owner's lounge who said he got about 3:30 with the screen at full brightness and wifi on.

Either one will be fine for your needs, OP. Like I said, I haven't seen any battery life numbers with the i5 yet but my dv6z with the N930 gets about 3:45 with the screen on 60% and nonstop browsing.

I doubt you will notice any difference. I would base my decision on whether I needed extra stuff that the dv6t has (the SSD) or just price (dv6z being cheaper).
