I am having random hard freeze issues while playing BF3 on an Radeon HD 6770M and sometimes on the Intel card. Someone on a forum that I found through google suggests that I should switch from IDE to AHCI in the BIOS, but I haven't found any such options.

Is there a little known way to unlock the settings or maybe they're supposed to be accessed from somewhere else?

Do you have a link to the quote? I would be really surprising to find a new laptop that doesn't use AHCI by default [in fact AHCI is the default since Vista!].

I wish I had the link saved, but what I want is to get to these settings:

Is that only available in a flashed BIOS?

AFAICT, there are no voltage, no frequency and no multiplier settings available even in a modded F1-B bios. However there are options about various power-save stuff [C7, disable turbo, thermal throttle, disable cores, ...] :(.

You should be using AHCI by default. Check your Device Manager or download Crystal Disk Info.
