My girlfriend accidentally broke her laptop screen and we're looking for replacements. However, nowhere is selling a 1080p screen for this particular model. Not a single store.

I've searched a lot of these threads and came to the same conclusion: No one knows the real model number for the screen used. I've seen LGD037F posted by a few people but there's no real leads from it. I've saw a post at the tom's hardware forums that it might be LP156WF4 (SL)(B2) but no one really has said anything concrete on it.

We're not trying to shell out $400 to get this screen fixed so any help at all would be grateful.

If you can manage to get a photo of the cable on the lcd screen side and screen label. Also where the connection located may help.

The problem is that no one ever exactly confirm the model of the screen on the new dv6t.

Checking out her build specs from HP...she did have a regular glossy 1366x768. She still wants to try and upgrade to the 1080p matte screen, though. (I know about the cable kit/665305-001)
I guess the only option is for someone kind enough to look inside their own laptop and disclose information?

That is the old kit, I have no idea if it works... I read they are using the new slim model. The 1080p(7xxx) originate from HP have amazing view angle not find on any other machine, so no one really know if they had just change the screen, or more.

If you are going to repair it, then it doesn't hurt to check for yourself ~~

Not sure if this actually helps any, but looking at the manual here:

    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03216834.pdf?adid=10428184&affpid=3640576&aoid=35252

This shows a HP part number of 682090-001 for the FHD screen. Doing a google search brings up this page:

Dell Latitude HP Pavilion Sony VAIO 15.6" WUXGA HD TFT LCD Screen/Display Replacing LP156WF1 E5520 VPC-CB VPC-EB - Laptop Parts Expert

I still don't know the specifics about the panel, but it looks like it is used in Dell and Sony laptops also. It also looke like you would need a new connector as the HP manual has a different cable for the FHD screen.

EDIT - If what I am finding is correct (it is late....), then this display for sale for the sony VPC-CB... model should work with the DV6. It shows it as being a LG display.

    You're looking for this:

682090-001-New HP New DISPLAY RAW PANEL Antiglare Full High Definition - Speaker mesh sticker needed

Although I'm confused. I thought you were looking for a replacement for the dv6t? Not the dv6z? No matter. That should both fit the two models, as long as they're both 7000 series.

Also, that link is for the whole display assembly--meaning with the LCD panel (LGD0349) and the WLAN cables, inverter cable and the back panel (I think). Only thing missing is the speaker grille.

I was the one concerned about the dv6tqe-7000, tbone8ty came in asking about the dv6z-7000.
So either of the screens linked by LTBonham or kisetsu17 would be a suitable replacement?

I've taken everything apart and am left with the screen. The plastic surrounding the screen is off except for the bottom left and right corners, which refuse to come free. Any ideas/tips?

I don't have a solid idea for just the LED screen itself. I guess you'd have to make sure it's the same model tho. In the dv6t-7000 it's LGD0349. Or at least that's what the Intel ones came with.

zsero, where are we supposed to see the exact model number in the program? To me it simply shows what dv6 users already know--that it's an LGD0349 display.

Do you not have a field called "Data string"? For me it looks like this:

Edit: I believe you cannot see it, because "Data string" is missing. Once we found out what is the actual model number I'll update the wiki.

Check if there are hidden screws INSIDE the area covered by the plastic HP speaker grill.

It seems that certain manufacturers block that information via BIOS, so you cannot see it, unless you physically remove the screen and look at it.
