    Hi All,

I have DV6z with AMD A8. Gpu - Radeon 6620G + 7690M. My issue is i am not able to use dedicated gpu 7690M for any activity even when enable crossfire is checked in vision centre. I have installed latest version of vision center , i think it is 13.12. Still nothing. I have used both AMD system monitor and GPU--Z for checking my card usage. I can see that integrated gpu is getting used even when playing games like - Assasin creed, Battlefield etc. But dedicated gpu is not being used at all.

Its kind of strange. this is driving me crazy.. Please help me to solve this issue.

I would say go back to 12.10 AMD GPU drivers but first remove the 13.12 drivers. I had tried 13.12 drivers and those have cause more headache then it helps. For some reason AMD GPU has caused more problems with my system then it helps and I set back my GPU drivers to 12.10 and they worked fine. I have a NV52 and I have 12.10 and tried 13.12 and that cause endless reboot til I rebooted back to 12.10 and that became more stable. So at this point in time I think your system is unstable with 13.xx drivers and til AMD fixes why this becomes unstable I say stick with 12.10 drivers. You might missed somethings but I rather have a stable GPU driver to start with first.

Thanks. So should i delete 13.12, install HP base drivers then install 12.1 or just install it over 13.12 ?

Also, when i was playing with my display drivers to see which version works for me, alomst all apps start crashing with stackhash error. I read somewhere that it is due to non whql drivers. I installed 13.12 and that error went away. although switching is still not working.

Uninstall all of 13.12 and use ccleaner to clean any leftover and reboot and reinstall 12.10 and see if your video stability returns. I don't know if this is still true of later AMD drivers but for some reason they have come more unstable after 12.10 and why I don't know. This is one reason I avoid AMD GPU and if I get one like my Gateway NV52 it has 12.10 and it works fine and is stable. I don't game on my AMD so I don't know but I heard they have 14 version out but I don't know enough if that is anymore stable since I have heard 13 had problems and seems like AMD brushed the problems and never acknowledge the problems from what I read saying it was bad hardware but I doubt it was the hardware problem. I think this is one reason why Nvidia has a leg up on AMD - AMD can get the hardware out sooner but being later seems to work better for Nvidia having more stable software/hardware workings. This is something AMD should learn to get their software/hardware working before releasing it and causing their users more headache.

Thankyou. I have installed 12.1 and looks like switching is working now.I can see that both gpu are getting utilized now. I had nvidia gpu in my dell xps 1530 and that was absolute nightmare.. thats the main reason i switched to amd. but looks like amd have problems of their own.
