I have a DV7-1232nr, I left it on, closed the lid (I do that now & then) came home a couple hrs later, lifted the lid and nothing happened. The lights lit, but nothing was on the screen. One thing I did notice is noise coming from the CD drawer, like it's trying to start over & over with no CD in it. The lights that come on are the internet which is orange (not connected) & sound light is also orange. A blinking white light is on the caps lock & at the top of my numeric pad. The CD drawer is blinking green. I'm really someone can help me solve this problem. I hate to buy a new notebook, this one is only 2 years old. Thanks

Check this page about blinking cap lock and num lock lights, it could be telling you something.
Blank Screen LED Error Codes HP Pavilion)

That links for a similar model, should be the same LED wise.

Also as Bullit said about turning off and waiting, could you also remove power cable and battery and hold the power button in for a minute and then plug it back in and try boot?

Thank you for the help. I did go to the site about Blank screen LED Error. This is what it said " Blinking LEDS on startup usually indicates a problem with the basic functionality of a critical component, and you will need technical assistance to resolve the error.

The most commonly used LEDs are those located are near the Caps Lock and Num Lock keys." I like a dummy went out & bought another HP laptop, not as good as the DV7-1232nr. I would like to get my other one fixed, but still have NO idea what the problem is or how to fix it without it costing me more money.....any ideas what I might try first as what caused this? Thanks
