So I'm looking for some more speed out of my DV7-2270us pavilion notebook. It has Core 2 Quad Q9000 2.0Ghz processor. I checked processor specs on Intel's site and the 2.26Ghz Core 2 Quad Q9100 is exact same voltage spec, same socket fit, same processor features except twice the L2 cache. I checked eBay and found Q9100 new in box for sale $203 US. However, the vendor had a warning that only the laptops listed on the page supported the Q9100 without BIOS update required etc. DV7-2270us was not in the list. So I'm wondering why it would not support the Q9100 since its the same processor basically as the Q9000 but just larger cache and default multiplier. Same FSB, too -- 1066Mhz.
Side by side comparison... only diff is bus/core ratio (mulitplier):
Compare IntelĀ® Products,
DV7-2270us support Q9100 processor?
