Like the title says, the webcam in my brand new DV7-4032eo laptop has a red tint to it.

I searched the forum and apparently some Envy owners have experienced similar issues, but all of those have been fixed through software fixes.

I found a comment on this page (look for answer by Brad Switzer) which suggests it only works properly under florescent light, which definitely isn't true for mine.

I don't think this is a driver issue since the issue remains in Linux (Debian Sid), but I haven't left out the possibility of the webcams firmware being misconfigured somehow (if it even has an internal configuration, which I doubt).

I also just realized it seems to completely lack the green channel; I held a paper with different shades of green in front of the webcam and the picture of it looked almost completely blank.

I have no idea how to fix this permanently except for sending it in to HP for repair, which I probably won't since I don't really need it, although I did find the facetracking feature a bit amusing for a few minutes...

Anyway, it's not a major issue, just wanted to know if anyone else had seen this before.

    Edit:
I turns out this is a BIOS bug.
Updating to BIOS version F.23 (released 2010-11-25) solves the issue.
