Love the laptop, but the touchpad buttons are really starting to get on my nerves. I know it is user error, but no matter what I try the buttons are very unresponsive. When right clicking a menu I might have to try 5,6,7,8 or more times to get it to work.
Any hints on using the HP touchpad buttons. I am pressing down firmly, but just can not seem to get it to work properly.

I attached my VX Nano. Sorry.

I'm getting a bit used to the touchpad. BUT....right-clicking is a nightmare without a mouse.
-
Ah, they did put that "right click" button on the keyboard though...

Thanks - I guess this is a RTFM moment.

use tapping instead - 2finger taps as right click.
i haven't had any trouble after switching to tapping on my envy 14 with the exact same touchpad. faster and better than using bottoned touchpads anyday. -
What helped me was configure the right button area also as a hotzone to send right click. So I can tap it without physically pressing down the rather stiff button
I had to install newer synaptic TP drivers from the synaptic company website as the included HP drivers do not have the option of configuring of hotzone.
also, as personal perference, I set top right hotzone to act as middle-button.
The only button sequence I haven't found a satisfactory way to generate is clicking right and left button together -- ie for games or chording or button rocking. There seems to be no good way to activate 2 buttons at the same time. -
Yeah, the more I play with it......the better I get with it.
I go back and forth...spending a good amount of time NOT using the touchscreen....just to see if I can get used to the pad. -
I have been having quite a getting-to-know-you period with my dv7 touchpad, too, even after spending a considerable amount of time with the Synaptics settings. Thanks for the extra tips! (Especially the "right click" key! It's like they knew they were making the buttons unusable!

I like the zooming in and out thing though...
