Hey all, i've recently purchased this HP and i'm trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium x64 but have come across a serious problem in doing so.

I'm hoping that someone here, perhaps someone owning the same model HP as I, has some idea on how to advise me on this problem i'm facing...

I downloaded and patched the .iso from this link. I have tried booting it from first, a DVD and then a 4GB flash drive, using the proper methods as outlined on the above page. But just after clicking 'Install now' at the start, it comes up with a box saying:

"A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note: if the windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safetly remove it for this step."

I am then suppossed to browse to locate the correct CD/DVD driver and have tried many, to no avail. On every file i've tried it just says "No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click ok." It won't accept anything in the windows/system32 folder and I have tried downloading fresh drivers from the HP website, but none of them work either.

Browsing around google, it seems like this is a common enough problem, one guy I talked to suggested that I disable AHCI in the BIOS, but upon a restart the option wasn't there, it's been locked out by HP. Additional searching revealed my BIOS version to be unhackable. So that won't help.

So.. i'm currently at a bit of a loss on how to circumvent this problem. Is there a way to disable AHCI without accessing BIOS? Or perhaps there is another way around it?

Any advice or suggestions would be most welcome as this situation is far beyond my knowledge to deal with

Maybe something went wrong when you patched the ISO or there was a corrupted download. I know these systems come with Windows 7 and not with Service pack 1, so the correct drivers should be there for an install to succeed(AHCI is definitely supported out of the box).

If you have another system or a Virtualbox VM to install on just to test the media, that might be a good idea.

You can try slipstreaming SP1 into your install ISO...

We tried to help the op in his other thread, but i dont know that much about the new HPs with UEFI.
Anyone here knows if that model uses a alternate sata card.
Like if HP kept the Intel chipsets with dodgy sata 2 ports and replaced them to make it fully usable again?

    Edit:
Maybe look for the AHCI driver here. :D

Seems like a bunch of drivers for Intel Sandy Bridge HP notebooks.

Using this page Slipstream Windows 7 SP1 into a Installation DVD or ISO File - Windows 7 Forums I'm trying to slipstream SP1 into my Win7 .iso, am using RT Seven Lite 2.6.0 beta as instructed, but when I get to step 4:G on that page, which is copying the contents of my Win7 disc to a new folder, it gets to 100% copied then comes up with an error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." What the? Any ideas?
