Sometimes when viewing the HP website I am presented with a page asking for serial number and or product number and it says to get this from the service tag. In the PDF manual meant for my machine it also shows a service tag on the bottom of the laptop.

The odd thing is that the only visible sticker on the bottom of this machine is the Windows key. I can see the serial number if I remove the battery but whenever I try to use the serial or product number on the HP site I get an error.

Hold fn and esc while in windows to get to System Information. It will show your product number, which is what you use on HP's website.

It's not on the battery, but under the battery.

Quick Launch button driver software. But this info can also be found in the BIOS on the BIOS info page. Boot up hit F10 as soon as the BIOS splash screen appears.

No special software needed, just hold function then escape on your windows homescreen after you log in.
