What the heck is going on. Why the heck do they have no vents here, and will they be changing this right away or what!!! im so mad. anyone have an explanasion?![]()
-
well,why are u so mad?
-
no vents at all? That's strange.
Maybe it has built in water cooling -
-
here is a pdf of hp's manual showing and indicating venting at the hard drives: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01482376.pdf its on page 17.
Here is a pic of the review of the dv7t.

HP better send free replacement covers for that area. -
I'm guessing they wouldn't be that stupid.....
No seriously guys...
They're not that stupid.
I'm sure the hard drives are fine. -
hp probably know there are no vents
they probably just want them all to overheat horribly so they will have to replace every single one that they sell costing them millions
or... maybe, just maybe...
the ventilation is adequete already! -
Yes it's such a lovely design all around. I'm sure they just forgot about the hard drives.
On a side note, why don't you open up your computer and see how exactly the hard drive is cooled. Eh? Go ahead and give it a look. -
whether is sufficient is one thing, whether it would be better is another, and i think if someone asked which you would rather have, they would choose venting.
also, i stated in the official thread, that the very picture (not drawing) in the quickstart brochure they have of this model, that comes in the box it is shipped in (i know, cuz i received it) shows clearly, vents on each side so i know that they fabricated/manufactured them. why did the assemblers not do it is the real question. -
dv7t - Stop spamming every DV7 thread with "OMG!! no HDD vents like the picture!!!!" -
-
I think there'll be new macbook/macbook pro models soon...
-
Real soon. within 60 days for 100%.
That's when I will get work to get me one. -
You guys are funny. I really wasn't promoting the Macbook as an option. I should have added [sarcastic] [/sarcastic] to my MacBook reply to dv7t since about 98% of his posts are about the dv7's (lack of) HDD vents.
Which my dv7 runs very quiet and cool, though you can feel-out the CPU and GPU locations from underneath. And, my HDD has yet to get anything near hot/scorching even with some multi-GB data transfers from my WHS. -
^we all hope
-
If the dv7 is anything like the dv5, it has different vents depending on the hardware options. More robust video adds additional venting on the dv5. Perhaps dv7's are similar.

If it doesn't have vents, I am sure it was done purposely. Just take a breather, seriously. A big computer manufacturer wouldn't make a notebook that would definitely be that vulnerable. Since the notebook is bigger, they probably found an alternative cooling mechanism.
-
OH! and as for Mac, you gotta be kidding me.
The PC is much more versatile. -
^care to explain your post, cos i didnt get it
-
Which one? lol
The Mac post is my opinion.
The alternative cooling mechanism is my assumption.
DV7T has NO VENTS where the HARD DRIVES ARE!!
