HDX hands down. Especially if you're not looking for portability. The HDX is far superior to anything else HP sells. The screen is unmatched. The sound is unmatched. The cooling is superior to the DV7T. and the 8800M GTS is significantly more powerful than the 9600GT. There are other features of the HDX that put it above the dv7T

WOW, that is an amazing deal for the HDX,

I know you say weight is not an issue, but the HDX weighs 15-16 pounds versus 7.5 pounds of the DV7t.

    The HDX is definitely superior.

That is an amazing deal on the HDX. Since portability is a non-factor, I would definitely pick it up.

yes the graphics card is better, but the processor is slower and not 9xxx series. also, i dont know the speed of the ram, but do you know if it could handle pc 6400 at 800mhz?

also, the screen is the 1680x1050, so i will not really be getting more on the screen. how is this screen better??

would there be any pitfalls to this...finding a cooler perhaps? will the zalman nc-2000 cut it..anyone??

last, how is this normally better cooled than the dv7t?

    thanks.

yes the processor is slower but you can always swap it out for a more powerful one if you feel the need. and no it cannot handle 800mhz, it runs at 667mhz, you install a 800mhz one and it will downclock to 667mhz. the screen is better by a long shot dui to more brightness and crispness, well just better quality that is! and i dont think you need to worry about coolers because obviously a good cooling system is built in since its such a large lappy.

The HDX is a beast either way. If resolution is such a concern, then get a DV7T.

I've got the HDX with the X9000 2.8, the 20" display, and the 320gb drives. The thing is so quiet and cool (even when running multiple design programs) that you hardly notice it's even on compared to other notebooks that are smaller. Size means more ventilation area, which equates to cooler systems. That this thing has size there can be no doubt. The CPU also runs cooler. As far as the display, it don't get any better than true 1080p HD. If you already have a flatscreen 1080p HDTV then you know that - if not, you're missing out.

the thing is that it only comes in the configuration above with 1680x1050.. it still sounds like its worth it, altho i would get 7200 rpm drive. question is...can i just put another hard drive in the bottom, or do i need something special such as a hd caddy like iver heard? if so, do you have link to caddy?
