Ok so I have a dv7t with a 320 Gb 5400 rpm hard drive. I want to add a second HDD that runs at 7200 rpm for putting my games on. Is the interface SATA 1.5 Gbps or 3.0 Gbps?? I cant find the info anywhere. Also is there any reason the dv5t has so many vents on the back like where the HDD are and the dv7t does not?? I have a laptop cooler and it works great, but without the vents where the HDD's are, they still get a little warm. Anyone tried making their own vents? Thanks

i am not sure either but what you can do is open up ur unit, look at the HD that's in there and i would think that it's a safe bet that whatever speed that is will be what the dv7t can support.

you can google your current hd's part number then look for the technical specifications on the manufacturers website.

good lord, i sound like a nerd =/

The SATA interface that the DV7 uses is SATA II which is capable of 3.0Gbps... you can use older SATA I 1.5Gbps drives though...

As for the vents... well... 2 different notebooks, 2 different designs... you can try adding vents on the bottom panel... but that'll void your warranty...
