I'm still trying to deside between the 8000 and the 5000. Besides other factors like size/GPU, etc. I need to use this notebook outside, but not in direct sun light. It would be used under a white plastic canopy. Now my old IBM Thinkpad T20 works but is dim.
My questions, the 5000 offers non-brightview, matte finish. Should be great for outdoors use.
The 8000 does not offer mattebut does offer Ultra brightView (more back light). So the 8000 would still have glare issue, or would the Ultra factor help?
Alone use a 8000 outside on a regular basis? Comments?
All I can say is looking at the 8000 in the store, all I can see is glare from the overhead lights and that worries me.
But the dual drives..... perfect for running multi-OS's.

You could try a laptop hood:

Between that and your canopy the dv8000z should be usable outside.
DV8000 vs. DV5000 display outside
