    I'm posting this in a new thread for two reasons, firstly, because the DV8000 thread has gotten ridiculously long and secondly, my model is a Dv8000t, specifically a Dv8333cl.

    I been wanting a 17" notebook for a couple years, for both the screen real estate and the included numeric keypad. I especially liked the design of the Dv8000 series compared to the newer Dv9000 series: I like black better than silver. In addition, I got a screaming deal on a refurbished unit from uBid that included dual harddrives and a GO7600 graphics card.

    I noticed that the keyboard was not resgistering all of my keystrokes. I can't touch type, so I tried to be more careful, making certain to hit every key, but characters were still getting dropped. I tried changing the sensitivity settings, but that had little effect.

    I then remembered the keyboard thread here and took a look.

    After seeing that a BIOS upgrade *might* solve the issue, I tried it on my machine, upgrading to BIOS F22. It *seems* to have worked. I tried typing a lengthy note and went through all of the keys. All seem to respond well in all settings.

    I *hope* this solves my problem. I REALLY like this unit. I've had positive experiences with HP service in the past, but I'd rather not have to send it in at all.

    BTW, a friend gave me an extra XB2000 expansion base for use at home and my company is getting me another for work, so I'll be able to minimize the amount of time I use the notebook's built-in keyboard. That should help *IF* the base problem has to do with contacts, but if it's a address issue, all bets are off...

    Jetstar, no problem and I hope it does help someone...

    Nice review BTW. I plan on getting my own in some time in the next few days.

    RE: dv8xxxx series keypboard "fix" , via upgrading to BIOS F22.

    Suggestion, in case you haven't already done so... POST the info in the Keyboard thread as well.

    PS: HP dv8xxxx series divided into two camps (regardless of listed model number - I.E. Dv8333cl )

    AMD=dv8000z
    Intel=dv8000t

    Yeah, forgot that... My machine is a Dv8000t series with the Intel Core Duo.

    We're not supposed to cross-post, but I'll reword something for consumption over in the other forum...

    Thanks!
