    HI,
I've got a problem where my DV8000t randomly reboots out of windows and I'm looking for some help/ideas as to what the problem might be!

    Here's the issue:

My laptop is randomly rebooting, no BSOD, no warnings, just reboots on it's own.

It is a core duo 2.0 GHZ, 1 GB Ram(2x512MB), windows XP home SP3, HP DV8000t, 256 MB Geforce video card, etc

Currently averaging 54-62C on each core under 35-60% load. (running full system virus scan)

So far I have done the following:

    1) Open the bios and run the included hard disk utility -> No errors or issues found

    2) Went to My Computer->properties->Advanced and changed the settings to not automatically reboot on a dump to try and get a BSOD, but I still do not get one. There is NO dump log being written either

    3) It will normally happen once, then reboot, then happen almost immediately once I get into windows again. Most of the time I've had to power down or hard reboot to get it to stay up for a little bit.

    4) Ran full system scan with norton and it's clean

It could be something software related as well, I did remove some software earlier this week and do some tweaking of the start-up programs, but I would think that would give a BSOD. If I get nothing, I think I will also try doing a system restore.

I do have 2 brand new crucial 1GB sticks coming in this week from newegg, so I'm going to try installing those and see what happens before I do a restore/reinstall of XP.

Any other thoughts on what it could be or anyone else had a similar experience? (memory, motherboard, etc?)

A lighter issue I had with it was that whenever I play a DVD in the DVD-RW the sound is horribly crackely and it seems like the machine is slowing down. Plays music fine, so I think the dvd-rw is going bad(not a big deal as I have an external) but did not know if this was common on this laptop on not.

    Any ideas/help would be great!
