I recently started having a problem with vertical lines on my "17" Dv8113 screen...they are more bunched together on the left of the screen and less as you move right..they are pretty thin and are different colored, but pretty annoying on such a nice screen as you could imagine. I have checked the LCD cable to see if it was pinched or any bent connector pins and found none...Has anyone suffered the same fate, and if so, how was this corrected. I think maybe the inverter has gone bad,but unable to find a replacement..the laptop is running XP SP2, not Vista..so it's not a driver problem...any help would be greatly appreciated..Thanks.

For once I can say it isn't the LCD Inverter, it sounds like a graphics issue. I would try uninstalling and then reinstalling your graphics driver, make sure to delete all the registry keys and everything for the old driver after uninstalling. If that doesn't solve the issue your graphics chip could me malfunctionion.
I had an old HP ze5170 that had the same issue you are having, and one day it happend during the bootup and the motherboard just shorted out. Upon disecting my notebook I saw that the graphics chip actually popped and cracked, so make sure it's covered by thermal compound and that it is also getting adequate cooling.
