    HELP!!!
    I have searched the internet for a solution to my problem and found this forum that seems to have smart people on it. Issue;
    I have a HP pavilion media center ed DV8135nr turion 64 mobile 2 ghz, 1 gb ram, 100 gbhdd that was built in 2005 running xp home edition. i just bought a 8gb itouch 3g and am having issues when i plug it into the laptop. it seems to work for a minute but then the itouch reads synching and then the whole laptop shuts off with no error message or warning. when i boot back up it is fine. i tried calling hp but they wont talk with me unless i purchase a new warranty. this laptop was a hand me down from inlaws and i have loved it thus far, just cant play with my new itouch with it.
    i have hooked the itouch up to another computer to check to make sure its not the itouch and its not.
    I have the laptop on a fan platform so i don't think its a heat issue since it doesnt feel all that warm to me when it shuts off.
    I have installed all of the updates on Windows update.
    I have updated the BIOS on the hp support site
    Can someone please help or is someone familiar with this issue that im having?

    If there is any information that you need that i am not including, please let me know.

    The only thing I can think of to try is to plug in a powered USB hub and plug the iTouch into that, just in case there's some weird USB incompatibility. I have run across USB devices that are only bug compliant with Intel chipsets and that's how I worked around the issues.

    Anyone have a better idea?

    so i think it might be a heat issue after all. I plugged it in this morning after the laptop had been off all night and was able to synch and power it up for about 20 minutes and then poof....the laptop shut down. it wasnt that warm but someone else has suggested that the heat sink glue?????might need replacing/ anyone heard of this?
    Thanks again for your help.

    go here http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

    and download hwmonitor from the links on the upper left hand part of the site.

    use that tool to monitor your tempratures. you can do this also - run hwmonitor and take a screenshot of hwmonitor every minute or so and save it.

    that way, we can see the temps right before the machine shutsdown.
