On a scale of 1-10 my computer skills are about a 4 or 5 just to let you know who you are dealing with. I've had this machine since september 2010. After going through the treble bass wifi problem having it repaired under warranty and getting it back last Friday, I have a continuing problem. I can't play first person shooter games. I used to be able to play all Call of Duty games, including Black ops, although never in 16:9 always 4:3 even after changing the display settings. The bigger issue now is that whenever I try to play any FPS games my keyboard becomes numbers. I can't move. If I try to reassign a letter key for movement it becomes a random number. And it's never the same number sometimes a w will come up 3. Press it again it will be 5 or 6 or 9 etc. It has occurred other times such as entering characters is a search box, but will correct if I click on the box again. HP replaced the hard drive and keyboard to fix the treble bass wifi and this other issue but apparently it didn't fix this key problem. I've updated the Nvidia driver last night but it didn't help. My machine is HP DV8t 1200 640GB hard drive, Intel i5-450M2.40GHz.3MBL3Cch, 6GB DDR3 system memory 1 GB Nvidia GeForce GT 230M. This whole gaming problem showed up while working with HP on the phone trying to fix the wifi problem. They did a recovery and re installed the Bios. Any help would be appreciated. It's still under warranty but sitting on the phone with india for several more hours is very frustrating and time consuming. Thanks

Uninstall all games first. Then factory install all software it came with. After installation, install all updates to windows (sp1,23 etc) for whatever version you have. I assume windows 7. And I mean all updates even optional ones. Check for drivers for you graphics card on Nvidia site. Install those reboot. Go to hp site then download newest drivers for keyboard, wifi etc. Reboot. Install the game reboot. Then play see what happen. If problem presist I would advise tell hp to give you a new laptop and stop trying to fix the current one.

OK I got this fixed. It turned out to be the Comcast/ Xfinity Constant Guard. Once I removed it the problem was gone and hasn't returned in a week. I kept the Norton part for virus protection. All's well.
