Hi, I got here DV9690EN with 8600GS.
I need some advice on modification. Can somebody post their idle temps also.
First problem is heating.
I want to place copper shims on gpu and north bridge is it worth?
Also to replace thermal pads on gpu ram and near proc to Phobya ones.
Would that help much?

Also I noticed that from earphone jack comes some sort of electricity. I mean from that - contact. When i touch it with elbow it bites like needle.
Everything else is performing fine.

So as I see everybody is too busy.... So I placed copper shims on GPU and northbridge, used Shin-Etsu thermal compound. Changed stock thermal pads to Phobya XT. Running system 4rd day, here is my result:
Win7 ultimate, 32bit, 2gb ram.
Simple browsing is about 40'C
Hdd has to be replaced soon as its almost dead -
Nice numbers! What were your numbers prior to the mod? My DV9500 was running GPU near 60 idle and up to 100 under load... then after the GPU failure, I sent it away to have it reflowed and shim'ed. My numbers then looked more like yours at idle and no higher than 60 under full load.
While that was a 'temp fix', I continued to use that laptop for 9 months mostly gaming for several hours each day and it's still going strong.
