Many of you know how flimsy the new hp displays are, especially for the hp pavillion dv9000 series. Well, recently one part of my display, right where the kensington lock is located, the display is falling apart. my less than one-year old laptop makes a terrible sound when i try to close it and i dont close it anymore because the lid is coming apart. This is the last time im getting an HP with this kind of WEAK display. Everything about it is weak, the plastic is weak, you can hear creaking everytime you close the display, and the hinges are a joke. I am dissapointed by HP, one would think they would have better quality control than this.

If it is less than a year old you may have a warranty claim unless the unit was dropped. My dv9000z is solid as a rock. I did not have good luck with my first unit a dv9008nr but they were mainboard problems not case construction. It's worth a phone call to see if it can be fixed under warranty. Good luck
