Hey all. got an interesting one for you. just the other day i was using my DV under normal conditions(browsing the net, not playing games, so relatively low stress) when all of the sudden it just turned off. no warnings, nothing. just off. like i had cut the power. I assumed it was because of heat(i had made this mistake before, leaving it on a bedspread) and let it cool down for a few minutes before trying to power it on. nothing! no activity lights, no battery charging lights, nothing. so i tried swapping batteries with my backup. still no response. totally dead in the water.

i chatted with HP support(they love you until they run your serial and realize your out of warranty) the lady told me to reseat the memory, no luck, then told me to try taking out the battery and AC cord, holding power for 30secs-1 minute, and trying it, but again. no luck!

has anyone experienced anything like this? i'm very proficient with disassembly and soldering, so i'm about to take it apart. I was just hoping for a better idea of what i'm looking for. thanks!

It sounds like your Power Supply is shot.

I have, but i sent it into the manufacturer and they repaired it. Its a big job to do unless you are very skilled with laptop's hardware.

HP will fix it, but they will charge you.
