New to this site and it has really been a help. However, with my recent purchse of the HP dv9000t notebook..which I am really enjoying...I have this high pitched/whine noise coming from somewhere beneath the hood. Have any other dv9000t owners have this? Its not terrible...but its not silent...the company says its normal. I am now getting concerned because one review said it was a silent running laptop. But even now..there is this high pitched constant whine. Any advice on this?

    Welcome to the forums.

That noise is actually rather common in many notebook systems. If you search around the HP forum, I'm sure there are a number of threads that discuss this particular issue in detail.

I don't honestly think that I have it on mine. Im thankful for such. If it is, then its a noise that is common from many notebook computers, and not just the dv9000t. Dont forget to use the search feature at the top right of the site, instead of manually digging through threads. Let me know what you find out, I'm curious as to what is plauging everyone.

I think I have managed to stop the buzzing. After much reading on this site...this is a very common/annoyin problem with no hard solution to it. However, I found a thread that recommended I try turning off, or disabling, one of the USB Root Hubs found by going to control panel..hardware..ect..

The sound is gone and Im amazed. I now have no complaints about this laptop now. But why was that such an easy fix for a terribly annoying problem? It doesnt make sense to me. But honestly, Im just glad this noise is gone!
