I've got a DV9030 back in December.I'm running Windows XP Media Center with the latest BIOS flash and Windows Updates. Starting about two weeks ago, the fan started to run on the middle setting constantly. The laptop sits on a desk so the vents are not obstructed. I only use it for web browsing so I'm not running any intensive programs. CoreTemp says the cores are running around 44 C. I'm going to buy some compressed air and try to blow out the fan. If that doesn't work, I'm going to have to take it in to Circuit City where I bought it, for the umpteenth time. Anyone have any suggestions on what might be causing this so I know what to expect? Thanks!

Check the temperature of the graphics card. It may be getting quite hot and may be causing the main fan of the notebook, to start spinning at a higher spin rate. Use some other programs to measure the temperature of the processor as well, as some will report the temperature incorrectly.

The graphics card is about 63 degrees Celsius. What other programs can I use to measure the CPU's temp?

Did you try flashing back to the bios that you had previously if updated? or try to remove the windows updates that were installed on the date the problem started.
