My laptop has been four times at reparation lately, they have
replaced the motherboard twice, but steel I have the same problem.
Among other things the support people pointed, as a source of the
problem, to a known "high-pitch, high frequency" noise. But in my case
I'm quiet sure that the source of the problem is not that. As a
confirmation of my assumption, the last time the laptop was at
reparation, support people admitted that the noise is caused by the
onboard Intel chipset and HP should be working on new drivers for it. According the
support more or less all dv9099 should be affected by this problem,
but I'm not quiet sure. I'm wondering if other owners are experiencing
a similar problem, I would like contact some owner of a dv9099ea in
order to see if it's not only me which is affected by this issue.
The issue: Annoying noise coming from the area around the speakers,
the noise is not constantly and it can be reproduced by changing the
angle of the screen/monitor and changing the contrast (brightness) of the
screen with fn+F7 / fn+F8. The noise disappears when switching the
monitor to an external monitor with fn+F4.
