I have a DV9207 with Vista Home Premium. I tried hooking it to an HDtv through an HDMI cable. There is no audio and the video is cropped the size of the taskbar on all 4 sides. Anyone else have this problem, or better yet know how to fix it?

I've heard that the HDMI on HP laptops don't carry sound, effectively making it DVI, however I don't understand your video problem, if you could describe it in another way please.

I had same problem with HDMI connection between my hp dv9000 and Sony Bravia lcd. This is what solved it for me....
    go to control panel
    select hardware and sound
    select sound
    change default from internal speakers/headphones
    to spdif interface

    hope this helps

p.s. hdmi carries both video and sound

    yup slipperfoot nailed it
the HDMI port is able to pass through AC3 and DTS to my receiver
but the overscan issue is very annoying, seems like the current drivers for the 8400m GS does not support the full functionalities of forceware, which has feature to compensate for overscan
