    Hello to everyone!

Am I asking too much above? I have a new dv9420 with 2 HDD in it (120X2). They are formatted as follows:
Drive 0: NTFS (Vista) & NTFS Recovery
    Drive 1: NTFS (Data)

I've already reduced the size of drive 1 by 40g. This is where I want Ubuntu and swap partitions. Ubuntu will ask where to install GRUB.

My question.... Does HP jack around with the MBR? On booting, if I press F11 I go to system restore. Is this on the BIOS (the handling of F11 on boot). I assume it is going into the 2nd partition on Drive 0.

What about the remote? Dont want to jack it's operation up any.

When I install Ubuntu I could have GRUB install it on the Ubuntu partition. Then while running the Live CD I could install it (GRUB) on a small thumb drive which is fine with me.

    TIA,
    Radnor

The F11 stuff AFAIK is tied to the MBR not to the BIOS. In any case as long as you have burnt the restore discs the recovery partition on the HD is redundant. The restore discs are capable of putting the system back to factory state including the recovery partition.

The remote is controlled by the drivers within the OS, so there shouldnt be any issues with that.

    Thanks for the reply!!!

Need to look into Vista's boot manager. I thought the F11 was BIOS. I thought it was on the sccreen before disc activity...

    Thanks again!
