I'm more of a Desktop person but my aunts laptop died and she passed it onto me. It will not show any video to screen or secondary monitor. I called HP but they were no help and said it would cost over $200 to repair. I found a refurbished Motherboard for $175 online. Before I buy anything I just wanted to know what the problem could be? If maybe there is a cheaper way of fixing it?

    Thanks.

Well, it uses a Geforce Go 6150 which no surprise probably suffers from the nvidia graphics issue. HP had a repair recall on these models while back. In any case, the symptoms of your problem indicate towards the GPU issue. There are ways you could try to revive the system. Search for threads here in the forum and the web, quite a few people have had success in reviving the system which involves heating the graphics chip. Keep in mind that even if you buy a replacement motherboard, you are still most likely getting a MB which can and probably has a much higher failure rate.

I have the same laptop and encountered the same issue. I was going to get it fixed from a tech store as well and they wanted $250 to FIX it not even replace the motherboard. Luckily I found out this laptop was on recall and I called HP and they replaced the motherboard free of charge and I bought the extended warranty on it as well. Works great and never had a problem ever since.
