Guys, what is the real difference in time usage for these batteries? I mean how much longer I will have my dv9500 working on a high capacity battery?

    Thanks

i have a dv9500t with the high res screen and high capacity battery

when just surfing the internet i get about 2hours and 45minutes....
when playing a game (CoD2) with sound off i get about 2hours or something

if im just typing something up with WiFi/bluetooth turned off and speakers off, i would probably get 3 hours 30min, which is pretty damn good for laptop with 17inch screen.

my bro has a laptop (14inch) and has a 12cell battery.... his lasts over SIX hours!!!

    Thank you mujjuman!
At least we have got a clear picture now. Now we need to check for how long the ordinary battery will last.

Have just checked my DV9500 ordinary battery surfing, downloading, uploading, scanning... 2 Hours 58 minutes. Not bad, isn't it? So, Hi-Capacity would last for about 4 Hours?

    Avillabon,

Just heavier, it is the same size.

Suland, that is phonomenal. My hi-cap won't do that.

What do you mean, "won't do that" ? Hi capacity has more power, isn't it? By the way my Power Options are on "HP Recommended" with some slight changes.

    Suland,

I get somewhere between 90 minutes and 2 hours with my hi-cap battery.

Mind you, I have all my power settings on near-presentation mode. I just don't see the point of turning down brightness or turning off my HDD if I am using my computer.

I guess the phrase "mileage will vary" is quite apt.

are u sure you have an ordinary battery?

because my high capacity does NOT last 4 hours when im surfing. downloading/uploading, etc. its around 2 hours and 45mins..... +/- 10mins

Yes I am sure, it's standard battery. I was thinking of ordering hi-capacity one and now confused a bit... What's a point of getting hi-cap if it just brings another maybe 45 mins?

When I had a 17" Gateway I also had a 12 cell battery that lasted over 6 hours.

I'm quite surprised that HP (or even an aftermarket MFR) has not come out with a 12 cell for the 17" 9000 series, yet the 15" laptops they do have 12 cells for.

Simply amazing & stupid on HP's part.

My 17" HP 8710W has a 12 cell. I believe it has more to do with the design of the 9000 more than anything, though it does show support for the 12 cell on the NX9420 and NW9440.

Download and install this program to see what your battery stats are:
    http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Notebook-BatteryInfo-Download-32603.html

If you have Vista, just right click the setup exe and change the compatibility to Windows XP SP2 (it wont run unless you do it).
You will have to do the same for the main exe located in C:\Program Files\BatteryInfo\BatteryInfo.exe.

Here is what it tells me about my dv9500 high capacity battery (I didnt edit out the serial, it just doesnt show any serial number :p):

Depending on your needs, you could use one of those full sized car jumper batteries that also have 120V AC output. Much cheaper than buying a couple of extra HP batteries.

So it sticks out the bottom & makes the NB lift up a bit, I'd be OK with that since it'd also help airflow!

Nice program thanks for the link, but it doesn't tell the one thing it should, rated MA!

I do not know which is higher, 88800 mWh or 4800 MA!

I see allot of batteries on ebay claiming higher capacity, but I also see rating on MA & mWh.

Well power (watts) is just the product of amperage (amps) and voltage (volts). So in this case, just multiple by the mAh by the voltage.

    Take for example this unit:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Battery-for-HP-...yZ116328QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

    It lists 4400mAh and 14.8 V. Multiplying 4400 and 14.8 yields 65120 mWh.

If we assume that the battery I have, the High Capacity battery also has a voltage rating of 14.8 volts, then simple mathematics would say that my battery has a 6000 mAh rating (88800 / 14.8 = 6000).

    edit:
on another note, I just inspected the numbers on my battery and it says 14.4V --- 73Wh. I think that the program is reporting the info wrong. I dont think there is 18% wear - i think the battery only goes to 73Wh, not 88.8Wh. Very odd...
