Loooong time lurker, first time poster....
So just got my brand spanking new dv9500t and clean installed xp (thanks guys!) and i have a coolmax cd-311 esata enclosure and an Idotconnect esata 34mm expresscard.
XP is not recognizing the drive. Everything is ok when the expresscard alone is in there, but when i boot up the attached esata drive, windows does not recognize the drive in My Computer, but it shows up in the Device Manager with an exclamation point next to it as either a SCSI device or a hard drive. I have not been able to mount the drive yet.
The drive and enclosure work fine when connected via the enclosure's firewire and USB 2 ports, and i've been able to replicate the problem on my older HP zd8000 notebook.
Wondering if any of you have had luck with esata on the new HP's. My money's on a faulty enclosure, so I'll be taking the enclosure back to fry's tomorrow and trying a different brand to see if that helps, update soon.
Thanks in advance.

Update:
It was the enclosure, do not go with the Coolmax CD-311 esata enclosure, as it was terrible for me and many of the reviews on newegg say the same thing. I have gotten a Vantec esata enclosure and it has been working wonders.
