I have a dv9500t HP notebook with 2g memory, 1g x 2. I would like to increase it to 3g. Do I have to buy 2g x 2, 4g to keep the chips matched or can I replace a one 1g chip with a 2g chip? What kind of memory do I need? Am running Vista Home Premium.
    Thanks in advance.

The memory you need depends on what memory is alwready in the laptop, you need to get it to the same specs but you can have an a-synchronous pair ( as in 2 GB stick and a 1 GB stick) and itll run fine.
