My dv9500z has 4gb of OCZ 800mhz ram in it. Before i got this ram, when running on HP 2gb, the ram area stayed pretty cool. Ever since i got this ram the computer's been really hot, and not just under the ram, everywhere. I dont remember the back left corner ever being this hot before. Ive measured the top of the laptop, just below the spacebar, at 122.5 degrees F. The left corner, mesured at the top (speakers) is up to 115.7. Even when I'm not using that much CPU it does this. It gets really annoying!

    50 C isn't that bad.

But have you tried measuring the internal temperature with something like HW Monitor?

    CPU- 64 degrees c

    GPU- 66 degrees C

Theyve gotten hotter than that sometimes...over 70 for the GPU and CPU while gaming.

Those temps are pretty normal especially gaming nothing to worry about unless the temps has reached to over 90C then the processor and GPU start to downclock to prevent overheating.

Thanks... Any thoughts about why this ram is running so much hotter than the HP ram?

Some ram, especially those that are manufactorered aftermarket can be built to a higher voltage then previous HP ram which can be directly linked to higher temperatures. I would recommend making sure you have the most up to date BIOS from HP as well as using some compressed air to help clean out any dust that may have started to accumulate inside the notebook to help keep it as cool as possible. You may also consider when using it at a desk for long periods of time propping it up or setting it on a notebook cooler to help alleviate the hot air the fans are blowing out.
