Purchased a HP dv9610us notebook about a month ago. Been pretty much living on this site as a guest and taking in everyones advice but finally decided to register and ask a few simple questions for myself. I upgraded my Ram to 4 Gigs from 1 and really have not noticed much of a difference but it seems since I upgraded, my notebook is using atleast 1 Gig of memory at all times now, before hand it was always around 400-500mb when I only had 1 gig. Is this normal for the usage to increase when you upgrade?

What else would you guys suggest I do for upgrades? I seem to get conflicting responses from anyone else I ask about my notebook. some say that I cant really upgrade anything else and some say I can. I am not the most intelligent when it comes to computers but I am learning ever so slowly :p . This is my first notebook and I will be using it alot since I will be leaving the country to attend college in Karachi. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks for joining, upgrading the RAM was a good move, 1GB isn't enough for Vista in the long run -- especially if you're running more than one program at a time.

Check out the Windows Vista Tweaks article for some software changes you can make to possibly speed things up:

Make sure that your default power setting is set to "High Performance" when you are plugged in.

Actually I found that post the other day and followed most of the steps :D . Something which I failed to mention is HP claims I have a Nvidia GeForce Go 7150M but when I looked, it says that I have a NVIDIA MCP67M. I am hoping that those are both the same thing.
