This is my first time posting, I recently purchased a Dv9700t and I have a few questions. I've done some searching on this site for some of the answers.

Question 1: It appears from everything i've read that I am not able to run a raid setup using the bios. I know i can do it using software, but is there a way to do it in the bios that maybe I didn't come across in my search?

Question 2: Is there a way to setup a bios password using the fingerprint reader instead of having to type the password in?

** Currently have Phoenix Bios Version F.52

If I need to change the bios version, can you please provide me with a link to detailed information on how to do so. Thanks in advance for any help :)

Question 1. From what I have found, there is no way to do hardware RAID with that BIOS. You will have to software RAID them.
Question 2. Not that I know of. The bios password is set with keystroke only. Reason being, the BIOS is what initializes the fingerprint reader and the password option is initiated before the BIOS runs.

HP had me change from BIOS F.52 to F.51 (F.51 seems to be the one that they have posted on their site)...the new computer (10 days old) came with F.52 and the tech support agent didn't even know that it existed.

Note: I had a major problem with the use of QuickRun volume buttons causing long lags to clear after using. I have Vista 64. HP Pavilion dv9700t. Anyone else noticing this please let me know at : kd937comp AT Hotmail DOT Com. thanks - ken

No you need a hardware-side RAID controller.

No again, BIOS is kept simple, no drivers or fancy parts are loaded. plus the fingerprint stuff doesnt load till windows does.

I would normally agree with you; however, some manufacturers have made it possible use the biometric scanner to be used to provide the BIOS password thought I know that the dv9700 series does not allow this.
