I am running vista premium on a 2418nr laptop. I am also booting ubuntu. When i try to use the drive in vista it doesnt work, but it shows up in device manager..... Then when I go into ubuntu it works perfectly, also works fine if I put my vista recovery disc in and restart the computer. I have already deleated the upper and lower filters in teh registry and nothing.

Let me know what you think it is.

    Thanks
    Steve

Start > right click my computer > manage
    Click disk management

On the window on the bottom right, find the DVD drive, right click on where it says something like CD-ROM 0, hit change drive letters and paths. Hit change and assign it a letter.

    That should be it.
