I have a dv2550se with windows xp installed. (Before it was vista but i reinstalled it). However, the DVDRW is not being recognized as DVDRW. When I go to My Computer it says that its a DVD-RAM drive. So basically I can't write anything :(. I tried uninstalling the driver in device manager but still nothing.

Any way to fix it? Please help and thanks.

A DVD-RAM drive is a DVD writer that also writes DVD-RAM discs. My desktop burners appear like that and they work perfectly. What burning program are you using?

On the other hand, if you are saying it appears as a DVD- ROM, then yes, you have a problem. If it says RAM but it does not burn there's something wrong with your burning program or the drive itself.
